FAQ

When should I book a newborn photography shoot?

It's a good idea to book your due date with me after your 20 week scan, that way I can ensure there will be a slot available for you when baby arrives and we can book the final date when baby is born. Ideally the photo shoot will take place when baby is between 5 and 21 days old when they are generally still more sleepy. If you haven't booked a slot before baby is born, don't panic - it's never too late, just get in touch to check availability.

When is the best time to do a newborn shoot?

The ideal time is when baby is between 5 and 21 days old. They are generally more sleepy then and easier to pose. Having said that, it is different for all babies and we can still create beautiful images for older babies.

Where will the photo shoot take place?

I have a studio in my garden in Bricket Wood. It will be kept at the ideal temperature for a newborn baby.

How long does a typical photo session last?

The shoot will take approximately 2-3 hours. This is very dependent on the baby and allows plenty of time for feeding and making sure your baby is comfortable.

How should I prepare for the photo shoot?

On the morning of your photo session, it is important, if possible, to spend some time interacting with your baby about an hour before you plan to leave. The reason for this is that it is ideal if your baby is asleep for most of the session allowing me to capture certain poses effectively. Additionally, give your baby a feed before your leave. A full tummy often leads to a lovely deep sleep! Please do not use any oils or creams on baby's skin on the morning of your session.

What should my baby wear to the photo shoot?

Baby should be dressed in an oversized romper (one that can be removed without going over baby's head). This makes it easier for me to remove when baby arrives without disturbing them too much. Baby will spend most of the session with just a nappy on, using my blankets and wraps. The studio will be kept nice and warm so baby will not get cold.

What do I need to bring to my newborn photo shoot?

You'll need to bring your adorable little bundle, along with the usual items you would carry in your baby bag. If you are formula feeing, please bring extra milk. Even if baby is not due another feed, it's amazing how just an extra tiny bit can settle them into a deep sleep. If you are happy to use a dummy, even if it is just for the purpose of the shoot, it can really help.

Can siblings take part in the session?

Absolutely! No one should feel left out. It might be a good idea, if it's possible, to have someone bring them along towards the end of the session so they do not get bored. Please let me know beforehand if you'd like to include siblings.

Can myself and my Partner be in the photos and what should we wear?

That's entirely up to you. If you wish to have some family pictures then that is not a problem. I would suggest wearing something comfortable, plain or with subtle patterns. Nothing too busy or with large logos or motifs as this can be distracting in the final image. If you are camera shy, I can just include your hands or concentrate only on baby. No one will force you to be in the photos 😊

How long does it take to receive the final edited photos?

I understand the anticipation of seeing your final photos. My editing process typically takes 1-2 weeks. We prioritize quality and attention to detail to deliver exceptional images that exceed your expectations.
